Veterinary medicine is about caring for animals, but at its heart, it’s also about people. In Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Veterinary Medicine, I have brought together diverse voices, perspectives, and lived experiences to explore how the veterinary profession can become more inclusive, equitable, and connected to the communities it serves.

Structured in an engaging A-to-Z format, each chapter:

• Focuses on ‘the what’ by defining a DEI concept or term (e.g., access, intersectionality, representation).
• Explains the ‘so what’ and why it’s relevant to veterinarians, veterinary teams, clients, and communities.
• Presents the ‘now what’, ways to put learnings into practice in real-world settings.
• Each of the 26 chapters can stand alone, so readers can pick up and jump into where they would like to focus for that time.
